In October 2012, we introduced Version 5 of our popular CMMS, which includes a radically redesigned user interface, numerous new features and over 600 improvements and workflow enhancements. We run Version 5 CMMS on our server, which means it is lightening fast. Why stay stuck in the dark ages! We want our Version 3 users to transition over to Version 5 so we’ve prepared 7 key reasons to upgrade.
Mobile technology is changing the way businesses work today. Tablets and smartphones are the must have business accessory as they increase efficiency. Employees need to be able to access business software in the field when they need it. That means spending less time in front of the computer, and more time in the front line. Version 5 comes with a mobile Version that is agnostic which means you can access it on any mobile device such as iPhone, Blackberry, Windows or Android. When accessing your CMM on a smartphone, the mobile Version of your CMMS is automatically loaded up. It has been specifically tailored to work the way your maintenance technicians work in the field. Your technicians can sign off tasks and work orders in real-time in the field as they complete them.
2. Weekly System Updates
Keeping your software up-to-date is crucial. Software updates introduce new features, improvements and workflows that continually increase your efficiency to save you time and effort. Upgrades also introduce patches, hot fixes and security updates that address any bugs in the system. As Version 3 is end of life, it will not receive any upgrades or improvements going forward. Version 3 was designed to work on the technology in 2010, which means any new hardware or software upgrades in the future could introduce anomalies that can change the way the application behaves or slow it down.
3. Database Security
Are you backing up your Version 3 database to another server? If not, what happens if your hard drive fails? Your hard drive could fail at any time and if you don’t backup your data to another server, you run the risk of losing your important CMMS data. This includes all your asset and work order history. Maintenance Assistant Version 5 is hosted on Amazon EC2 hardware that means your data is stored on redundant servers in multiple locations, protecting you from hardware failures and even natural disasters. With 99.5% uptime, you can be sure that your CMMS is available when you need it.
4. Regular New Features
Version 5 now features over 600 enhancements and improvements on Version 3. We have introduced some new features such as Multisite, Multi Asset Work Orders, Mobile, Task Meter Readings, 100+ canned reports, reports scheduler and many more. In August 2013, we will be introducing our new purchase order module that will allow users to create purchase orders and receive inventory directly in their CMMS.
5. Email and Alerts
Version 5 comes standard with a notification system that updates technicians in real time when work is due. Maintenance managers get immediate alerts when work requests are submitted so they can direct the correct resources to resolve the issue. Let the system alert you when something needs attention rather than sitting and staring at a screen all day!
6. Tech Support / Inline Training
Version 5 comes with free tech support for those issues that need expert attention. Fast and reliable Technical Support is the foundation of a well-running CMMS system and leads to increased productivity, reduced costs and improved profitability. Time spent troubleshooting a software issue would be better spent closing out work orders. We have also introduced inline-training videos on each screen so users can train at their own pace.
7. Advanced Reports
You cannot improve what you do cannot measure. Version 5 now comes with over 100 advanced reports that give you information such as system availability, reliability and PM Compliance. Metrics can be used to identify bottlenecks, improve workflows and optimize your maintenance operations. Metrics can also be used to make informed decisions such as repair V replace, hire or fire, postpone or bring forward, repair in-house or outsource etc.
Try it out for yourself before committing. Check out the Version 5 test-drive on our homepage and see how Version 5 can improve the way you do maintenance today. You can keep all your Version 3 data too. When you are ready to move to Version 5, we can simply take your Version 3 database and import it directly into Version 5 within a few hours.
